Focus On: RSM240 Rim straightening machine and lathe
Even though the production of the RSM240 Rim straightening machine and lathe began over 10 years ago and because its third version has already been developed, the many people who understand the versatility and the business opportunities that it can offer keep being interested in and satisfied with it.

First, a minimum familiarity is required for a correct use of the machine. We recommend practising with unused rims that, otherwise, are to be demolished.
By trying a few times, the user will start being familiar with the machine and understanding how to operate in order to achieve good results even after the first uses.

The RSM240 can be defined as a symmetric machine for it is possible to work on both sides.
In fact, on the right side, the straightening operations are carried out through a hydraulic ram which can reach a working pressure of 140 bar and can be activated through a lever.
Anyway, the working pressure is variable through a pressure regulator placed on the control panel, on the press side, which also includes a manometer, an ON/OFF switch and an emergency button, as required by the international safety regulations.

On the left side, there is a lathe for edge finishing or for material removal operations in case of welding.
A control panel with usual ON/OFF switches and emergency button is included on this side, too.
A mandrin rotations regulator and a digital display can also be added on demand.

The centering occurs through a series of rings and universal conical bolts provided in the standard equipment.
To the equipment completion, a set of jigs and extention tools is provided in order to facilitate straightening operations, with also a lathing tool and other accessories.
Moreover, the stock availability of all spare parts and accessories is another peculiarity that has always distinguished Comec products.

From the technical point of view, the RSM240 Rim straightening machine and lathe stands out from its many cheaper alternatives, which employ the traditional belt transmission with bullwheels, thanks to the presence of a high-performing 0.75 kW direct-drive gearmotor that moves the main shaft.
Also, two thick tapered roller bearings grant a precise rotation of the spindle.
Another feature that deserves highlighting is the main structure, created by using a solid H-beam – crushproof – rather than common square section tubing, which is more likely to be damaged.

The application field ranges from 13 to 24 inches and it is possible to use it on motorcycle rims, too, thanks to a specific KCM100 set.
In virtue of these features and thanks to its great versatility, the RSM240 Rim straightening machine and lathe becomes a proper workbench specific for rim reconditioning.

The shrewdest users, in fact, utilise RSM240 for welding, polishing and superficial finishing operations, thanks to dedicated and homebuilt tools that make the machine significantly more employable, by working on a single, dedicated workstation, rather than having to resort to lathes, presses and/or makeshift vices.

In terms of profitability, our customers tell us that this machine is paid back very quickly and it enables a significant and continuous workflow.
Many, in fact, use a van to collect damaged rims and re-deliver the serviced ones, at the point that they have become the reference operators for this kind of work, for showrooms and local sellers.
Others, on the other hand, exploit the website and a widespread shipment network to collect the damaged rims even in the furthest locations.

In conclusion, having seen the technical features and the employability offered by RSM240, it represents the ideal kind of machine for garages, tire centers, grinding workshops and auto repair shops, enabling the user to broaden the clientele and increasing the opportunities for his/her own business.
