February 2016
Interview with Joe Baker Jr.
We are at the PRI show in Indianapolis in the company of Joe Baker Jr. sales manager of Joe Baker Equipment Sales, official importer of Comec for the United States.
We take advantage of his presence to ask him some questions about the historical relationship that binds Joe Baker Equipment Sales and Comec.

Hello Joe Jr. can you tell us when was born the relationship between Joe Baker Equipment Sales and Comec?
Good morning, our collaboration began in 1981 when my father Joe Sr. and me were sales representatives of Peterson Machine Tool, at that time Comec distributor.
Then in 2005 we started to import products directly from Comec, becoming the official distributors for United States.

What are the characteristics that enable such a long and lasting relationship?
For first the quality of products manufacturing and the professionalism that distinguishes the Italian company.
Then over the years has been established a relationship of true friendship with all members of the Carniel family and this has definitely made easier the working relationships.

What value Comec products from the others and why they are ideal for the American user?
Comec produces high quality machinery for many years and has been introduced for a long time in the US market.
This enables it to meet the particular needs of each user and this is good for the customer who can operate for many profitable trouble free years.

Which product do you feel to recommend for those who would equip their workshop with a Comec machine?
Thanks to my long experience in the industry I consider all Comec machinery, high-end products to the best engine machine shops, but if I have to choose one, the ACF200 boring/milling machine is the one that is getting the most interest in the last period by the industry, expecially at the last PRI show.
This machine is very versatile & easy to operate and can offer a really wide range of work and extremely suitable for any type of automotive machine shop.

In conclusion, could you anticipate what news Joe Baker Equipment Sales and Comec propose for 2016?
The news of the moment is certainly represented by RP1400CNC, numerical control head and block resurfacer.
And obviously it's the numerical control the field where Comec is moving to.
