Interview with Roberto Cavallaro
Roberto Cavallaro, Technical Manager of the Engine Rebuilding Divison with company Associati Insiemewww.associatiinsieme.com. He accepts offering us some of his precious time to answer our questions about the engines repair.

Hello Roberto, since when are you involved in the world of engines rebuilding?
Good morning, I personally work in this field since 1990, but I come from an engines repair family. My grandfather and my father before me, did this job.
We can say that is an environment where I was born and grown.

What kind of services does Associati Insieme offer to its customers?
With Associati Insieme we try to cover all needs that exist in the field of engines repair.
We start from repair and maintenance of engines and turbines revision. We also have an inspection centre and we also organize courses for mechanics.
Soon we will also offer a service for automatic-shift gearboxes revision.

On which kind of work you are more skilled?
The field that requires more experience is definitely the engine rebuilding which is also our strongest point.
We operate on any kind of engine from cars up to heavy duty vehicles, including also marine and agricultural field.

Which elements were taken into account when you decided to equip the entire workshop with Comec machinery?
The name and the quality of Comec products are very well known and appreciated in the industry but what actually led us in this decision is the satisfaction and the reliability of a couple of machines that my father bought over 30 years ago and that daily work in our workshop.
Moreover, the wide catalog of available products allowed us to purchasing all the equipment from the same supplier.

What are the essential equipment that an engine rebuilding workshop must have?
To make a workshop well equipped, there are several specific machinery you need.
Anyway for the cyilinder heads a good resurfacing machine, a valve seat machine and a pressure tester must be necessary.
For the blocks a good boring machine and honing machine are absolutely required.
In my opinion that's the basic equipment for those who want to start to equip a good workshop.

Which Comec machinery would you recommend to an engine rebuilding workshop?
With no doubt, thanks to my experience in the engines field, I consider the RP1400 CNC head and block resurfacer, the spearhead of the Comec products .
